Our Programs

INFANTS

At Lil Campers the staff is trained in Early Childhood Development and use this knowledge to plan appropriate and stimulating activities for the infants. The staff constantly interact with babies by smiling, hugging, singing, reading and talking. We strive to ensure their needs are being met in the most caring and loving manner. Daily reports provide parents with information about diaper changes, formula and food intake, amount of sleep and developmental progress. This form keeps parents up to date and also advises whenever their child may need more supplies.

ONES

Our program for children ages 12-24 months allows for more structure and routine in their day. Playing in small groups allows children to be inquisitive and develop early socialization skills while they learn to walk, talk and explore. A large part of each day is spent dancing, singing, laughing, playing indoors and of course we play outside every day, weather permitting. Story time is a fun filled hands-on activity for the children with use of props, such as puppets, to enhance their experiences, while developing a love for learning and literacy. Using arts and crafts, children are encouraged through sensory experiences to explore and expand their abilities. We encourage the development of both fine and gross motor skills in a wide range of activities throughout the day.

TWOS

The two year old class introduces even more structure and routine into the daily program. Each day the Creative Curriculum includes working with numbers, letters, shapes and colors. Social skills and self help skills continue to be developed through group activities which encourage cooperative play, including taking turns, developing empathy and respect for others. Each day we offer our children ways to explore and develop their skills. Our curriculum offers opportunities in creative expression through arts and crafts. Language skills are developed through finger plays, nursery rhymes and musical movement as well as through age-appropriate stories and poems. Pre math and science skills are implemented within the daily routine.

PRESCHOOL

The Preschool Program follows the structured but varied schedule outlined in the Creative Curriculum. Working with music, writing and storytelling, art, dramatic play and social contact helps our pre-schoolers develop social skills and build self-esteem. Daily activities aid each child’s development for early math, science and social interaction. Circle Time is a great way for children to play group games and build their communication skills.

VOLUNTARY PRE KINDERGARTEN (VPK)

As the focus here is on school readiness, phonics and pre-math skills become more advanced, although the emphasis is still on learning through play and exploration. Children will learn the basic skills they need to succeed in their school years through the daily activities of Circle Time, music and movement, language, arts and role play.

SCHOOLERS

Our teachers here at Lil Campers believe, that after a full day at school, children need a balance of down time and organized activities. We mix it up to ensure they experience discovery activities based on real world themes, develop creativity through art projects, spend some quiet time reading and also get the chance to socialize with their peers. We set time aside for homework and are happy to assist students. We also understand that children need some time to run off steam after a long day at school!

Every Friday Lil Campers has a special program with Ms. Kathy, a music specialist. The children enjoy this time immensely and look forward to her creative ideas for singing and moving to a wide variety of music.
